….throw your fists up, come on with me….
I was really interested to hear this week that learning music improves a child’s IQ because I’ve always known it’s a magical thing.
No matter what emotional turmoil I’m going through, music will always make me feel better. When I’m knackered it perks me up, when I’m stressed it soothes me and when I’m lying awake in the middle of the night a bit of Cafe del Mar on the earphones will always lull me to sleep.
Today’s run would not have been possible with Pendulum’s drum and bass beats.
It was dark. It was pouring. It was cold and that bloody north wind was all up in my grill. I was running out of motivational thoughts when suddenly Watercolour painted my ears.
“When I’m falling down
Will you pick me up again?
When I’m too far gone
Dead in the eyes of my friends
Will you take me out of here when I’m staring down the barrel
When I’m blinded by the lights, when I cannot see your face?”
and then that awesome beat kicks in and my pace picks up and suddenly I’m laughing to myself thinking “screw you north wind, you can’t stop me, I am ON IT”
I arrived home properly knackered. soaked to the skin, red, sweaty and grinning from ear to ear.
